| One more time: Can someone say with authority whether or not the newly-released Athearn 50-ft gondola car models (HO) bear correct road numbers? The models are lettered in the 4700-series but I can only find photos and other references to a slug of 25 such cars that were numbered in the low-1000-series. Did the Rutland ever have steel gondolas numbered in the 4700-series? | (1 answer) Post/View Answers |

| Does anyone have any info on an average quantity of cars on the Norwood hotshot?
how many days it ran?

| Is it my imagination or did Athearn make a blunder when it put 4700-series road numbers on its new "Rutland" 50-ft gondola offering in HO? They just arrived. I am unable to identify any 50 ft steel gondola Rutland ever had except 25 cars numbered in the low-1000 series in the late-1950s. Athearn in my opinion has not been paying proper attention lately and I am wondering if this is another example or if the Rutland at any time had any steel gondolas numbered in the 4700-series? (I realize the physical model itself is not fully accurate and probably isn't accurate for *any* real 50-ft steel gondola, but that is beside the point.) | Post an Answer |

| My dad was Wally Hackett. I believe he was the last yard master before the last strike ended the RR. He also was sec./tres of the BRT Union. I have all the material from the union, 1883/1961. Is there anyone who can give a fair appraisal for the items.

| Before the Panama Canal Act of 1915 prohibited the Rutland Railroad to own, operate, or control any waterway in the Great Lakes, the Rutland Transit Company and its predecessor waterway shipping enterprises served Cleveland, Toledo, Detroit, Milwaukee, and Chicago from Ogdensburg. Where did the Rutland Transit Company terminate at Chicago on Lake Michigan? Did any of them own any port or docking facility there?
